How we count, and what this misses
- Source: the free CourtListener archive run by the nonprofit Free Law Project. We count federal cases filed during the month under nature of suit 446 (ADA, public accommodations) whose docket or documents mention a website.
- This is a minimum. The archive doesn't hold every federal filing, state-court suits aren't included, and demand letters that settle never reach a court. For a sense of scale, the law firm Seyfarth Shaw counted 3,117 federal website accessibility suits in 2025 (source).
- A few cases may mention a website without being about one. Case names are as they appear in public court records. Being named in a lawsuit is an allegation, not a finding.
